Sitting in the heart of the Central West, Portland is ideally located between Oberon, Mudgee, Bathurst and Lithgow and the Blue Mountains. The town is surrounded by beautiful beauty and rolling countryside. With Wollemi and Gardens of Stone National Parks, and plenty of walking trails, Portland is a great place to setup a base camp. If staying close to town is more your vibe, we have the Sound Trails and interactive walk through town, telling the story of our people and the history of our community. And if you plan your stay with us just right you will be able to catch one of the many events happening at the Foundations.

Town Centre
Portland is a quiet and idyllic town making it the perfect retreat from hustle and bustle of the city. While exploring the shops on the main street you will some QR codes, feel free to scan these to get a rich insight and history of the places that are in front of you. We have a few antiques and homewares shops, along with all the modern conveniences. Pop in for haircut, or stop for a cuppa at the Grove cafe.

Bottle Kilns
The Bottle Kilns are the remnants of the early Cement making process. They were built in the early 1890’s and were the first Cement making kilns west of the Blue Mountains. The Bottle Kilns are subject to a preservation order and are located on the northern edge of the Cement Works.
Camping at the
Portland Showground
Camping is available for Campervans, Caravans and Recreational Vehicles at Portland Showgrounds, Kremer Park. Facilities include toilets (limited opening hours), playground and is within walking distance of the town centre. Motor homes can stay up to 48 hours.
